Welcome to the Art Room!

Welcome to the art room! I am so excited about this school year. We will be creating many projects and using various mediums. However, we do need to follow a few procedures and expectations to keep things running smoothly. Read below to learn more about these.

Objectives
The art objectives allow students to know exactly what we are creating and the goal they should be trying to reach. Each grade level has a different objective build upon scaffolding. A project example will be posted by the objectives as well. This also allows students to know what project we are creating so there are no questions when they walk into class. The first day objective is "I can follow classroom rules and routines." and every student will be creating a self portrait that incorporates what they did this summer so I can get to know a little about them.

Classroom Expectations
Every classroom needs expectations so students can do their best behavior and academic wise. The art room has 6 expectations. These expectations allow me to do a point system in which classes are competing against one another to earn a gold medal. Here is the point break down:
1. Ninja Entrance- come in quietly and go straight to your learning spots
2. Be Sweet- be respectful to teacher and classmates
3. Use supplies correctly- Use supplies how it supposed to be used
4. Volume control- whisper during work time
5. Sparkling clean up- leave the room how you found it with everything in its appropriate place
6. Perfect Line Up- line up quietly and in line order

What will I do with my artwork?
This is a frequent question asked in the art room. To alleviate a repeated question, I have this chart hanging and a clothespin will be placed next to the appropriate picture. Today, they are taking home their work.

Table Jobs
The art room can get pretty hectic and messy. To solve this issue we have art job. Art jobs allow us to not waste anytime because students know exactly what they should be doing and we all work together. I have 6 tables in my classroom, therefore, there are 6 jobs.

I hope you enjoyed taking a sneak peek into the art room. Let me know if you have any questions.

Mrs. Carey :)
