Just like other classrooms, the first day of art is all about learning classroom expectations and routines. Learning the expectations and routines can take up a lot of class period, so we only a short amount of time to do an art project on the first day.
For the first day project, I gave students a piece of paper that already had a picture of sunglasses on it. Students then had to turn the sunglasses into a self portrait by adding facial features. Lastly, I asked students to reflect upon what they did this summer and add these events are reflections into the sunglasses.
